Maersk’s containership Eugen is on the move again after suffering a fire while crossing the Gulf of Aden from Jebel Ali. Conbit reacted fast to a call of Svitzer to provide rope access assistance in the port of Djibouti. The fire started in one of the containers and spread to two nearby containers. The crew responded and tried to contain the blaze. The vessel proceeded to an anchorage off Djibouti where a tug with fire-fighting equipment was able to extinguish the fire. The Eugen Maersk proceeded to container terminal at Djibouti where the Conbit team of 8 rope access technicians assisted with unloading the containers.
Rope Access was useful to gain access to difficult to reach locations. The safety standards Conbit is committed to are world class and did not remain unnoticed by the port authority and operator.
