THE PROJECT - OFFSHORE RIGGING

This project involved a tank-shaped separator, approximately five meters long and weighing approximately five tons. The space between the separator and the deck above was limited, which made it difficult to install a lifting configuration. Conbit devised a detailed procedure for this between-deck lifting challenge. Our team used rigging gear to lift the separator until trolleys could be placed beneath it. The trolleys were then used to move the separator to the edge of the platform. From the edge of the platform, the load of the separator was transferred from the rigging gear to the deck crane on jack-up platform Seafox 2, which was located next to the F15-A platform. The reverse procedure was used to install the new separator.

THE POWER OF PREPARATION

As with many of Conbit’s projects, extensive engineering and thorough project preparation was the key to safe and efficient execution. Conbit provided a detailed design of the removal and replacement procedures. All the steps were clearly explained in advance to Conbit’s team and the client using 3D imagery. This focus on preparation prevents hazardous situations from arising and makes it possible to execute projects on time.
